Drivers advised to use petrol, diesel instead of LPG
Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, Western Regional Minister, on Monday advised drivers to use petrol and diesel for their vehicles, instead of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG).
He gave the advice when opening the Kan Royal Service Filling Station at Ituma near Takoradi.
Nana Essoun Ntwanbin, Chief of Ituma, cut the sod.
Mr Aidoo said LPG is meant for household use to reduce the use of firewood, which contributes to the depletion of forest.
He said there would always be sufficient petrol and diesel in the system so there was no need for drivers to rely on LPG.
Mr Aidoo urged filling stations in the Shama District to engage in healthy competition, to enable them to make positive contributions towards the development of the area.
He said unhealthy rivalry and competition among themselves would not be in the interest of the area.
Mr Aidoo also urged filling stations to offer quality service and customer relations.
Mr Gabriel Essilfie, Member of Parliament for Shama, asked businesses operating in the area to conform to the laws of the country and the byelaws of the District Assembly.
Mr Kojo Appiah, District Chief Executive, said the doors of the district were opened to investors, who would be assisted to obtain land for their ventures.
He reminded businesses in the area of their responsibilities towards the development of the district.
