Accra Hearts of Oak set for centenary 100-days countdown
The nation’s oldest existing football club, Accra Hearts of Oak will launch the 100-days countdown towards its centenary celebrations with a float on Saturday,
August 6, 2011.
The float dubbed, “Great March to the Ancestral Home”, will take officials, supporters and the playing body through some principal streets within the national capital of Accra.
A statement issued and signed by Ashford Tettey Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts copied to GNA Sports, said the float will begin from the Club’s Secretariat (Farrar Avenue) through the Kwame Nkrumah Circle – UTC – Wato – Swalaba (Ancestral Home) – Asafoatse Nettey Road – Palladium – James Town and then through the High Street and terminate with a bonfire at the Hearts Park, opposite the National Lotto Authority.
It urged supporters who cannot be at the starting point to join the float along the specified routes whilst entreating the various organs of the club to show up in their numbers.
The statement said all Phobians regardless of age are expected to participate in this once-in-a-life time and never-to-be-forgotten event.
It urged all to come in their assorted Phobia paraphernalia and a candle stick for a bonfire.
Hearts, which was formed on November 11, 1911, will climax their centenary celebrations with an international friendly match against a yet-to-be confirmed Club on November 13 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
