Internal Audit Agency to hold forum on corporate governance
The Internal Audit Agency will hold a forum to discuss ways to institutionalize internal auditing as a strategic corporate governance tool in the public sector.
The two-day forum scheduled for August 18 and 19, would bring together public sector Managers, Ministers of state and Chief Directors to discuss the use of corporate governance tools as a way of ensuring transparency and optimal use of resources.
A statement signed by Lawrence Kwarteng-Ashia, Head Public Relations of the Agency, said the forum was expected to ensure that national programme objectives were efficiently achieved and national resources adequately safeguarded.
It is also in line with the mandate of the Agency to co-ordinate, facilitate and provide quality assurance for internal audit activities within the Ministries, Departments and Agencies and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
The statement said the Act setting up the IAA required it to provide means of keeping the MDAs and MMDAs fully and currently informed about problems and deficiencies related to the Administration of their programmes and operations as well as the necessity for appropriate corrective actions.
The forum, which is being held on the theme: “Internal Auditing –A Strategic Asset in Corporate Governance,” is expected to be addressed by President John Evans Atta Mills.
