WHO, WFP officials visit Eastern Region flood victims

Some relief organisations in the country have visited the flooded areas in the Eastern Region to assess the situation and to see how best they could help.

The visit which included officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Food Programme also interacted with the people affected by the floods.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Dr Vincent Ahove, an official from the WHO, said the visit was an inter-assessment mission from the different bodies of the UN.

He said any time there was disaster such as what occurred in the region, it was their duty to assist those affected.

He said the flood that hit the region was a very extensive one and that there was the need to assess the situation to determine the needs of the people hence their visit.
