Ghana government pays GH¢14 million monthly subsidy for LPG – Kofi Buah
The Ghana government pays a monthly subsidy of GH¢14 million for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) the GNA reports citing a deputy Energy Minister.
There is currently a severe shortage of LPG in the entire country.
According to the report, Mr Kofi Buah said the government is currently subsidizing LPG at a cost of GH¢14 million monthly, “to cushion the people” and pledged government’s commitment to improve gas facilities.
Mr. Buah, the report said attributed the current shortage of LPG to inadequate gas infrastructure in the country.
“The LPG usage, as of the year 2008 was 5,000 metric tons a week, but now it has increased to 8,000 metric tons a week and over 250,000 metric tons a year, hence the shortage in supply”, the GNA quoted him as saying.
He said LPG usage in the country has increased over 60% over the last two years thereby putting pressure on the scarce commodity.

That is waste why the government spend such money by sudsidizing,
why don’t these leaders think about using the same amount to assist in build new infrastructure in the gas sector to improve delivery unless this money is going into people pocket as corrupt or greed money. Money is being thrown away. Is wrong, is wrong!!!!
