Ghanaian referee Joseph Lamptey to handle CAF match after suspension

One of Ghana’s top most referees, Joseph O. Lamptey, will leave Ghana for DR Congo with three of his compatriot referees to officiate in the Confederations Cup tie between Motema Pembe and JS Kabylie of Algeria on Sunday, August 28 in Kinshasa.

Referee Lamptey will be in the middle of the crucial game, with Salifu Malik Alidu and David Laryea manning the lines, whilst Reginald Lathbridge will be the fourth official.

Other officials scheduled to officiate in the game, are Veli Malanga of South Africa as the Match Commissioner, with Djibrile Troare as the General Coordinator.

Referees Lamptey’s appointment is one of the few high profile matches handed him by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) months after his return from a suspension placed on him by the continental body.

He told GNA Sports that he has put aside the painful experience that resulted in his suspension and was confident of building on his career.

According to information, referee Lamptey is among the number of selected referees who will officiate in the 2012 Africa Cup qualifiers early September.
