Extend Takoradi railway line to Northern Region – Group
Mr Jake Addo, Chairman of the Tema-Site 18 Branch of the National Democratic Congress, has called on the government to extend the railway line from Takoradi to the Northern Region.
Making the suggestion in an interview with the GNA, Mr Addo said this would help farmers in the Brong-Ahafo and Northern Regions have easy access to marketing centres in Takoradi, Accra and Tema.
He said there was a good road network linking Accra to Northern Ghana through Kumasi, but there was none to link the Western Region to Brong-Ahafo.
Mr Addo said the loans meant for infrastructural development were justified, because future generations would also benefit from such projects.
He described as mischievous the call on government by certain individuals, to stop to stop contracting loans for development projects.
Mr Addo said this negative tendency would only turn the nation’s clock for development backwards.
“Let us expand the economy, make the people rich so that they can cater for their basic needs and live in dignity and prosperity,” he said.

Mr Addo is interesting on his story and I believed Ghanaians are not little children. If such a loan is being contracting as part of the railway reconstruction from Takoradi to Northern Ghana why will a question will arise if and even if this loan is not part of such construction. It is a shame to suggest to an administration that knows very well how bad the rail system is and how burdensome as well as strain placed on Ghanaian roads over thee years.
