University of Cape Coast holds open day
The University of Cape Coast (UCC), on Tuesday held its open day with an exhibition that enabled the various Departments of the University to show case their products and inform the public about their services.
The Vice-Chancellor of UCC, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the Registrar, Dr. Isaac Ohene and Heads of Departments of the University inspected the exhibition pavilion at the forecourt of the School’s main library.
The GNA observed that Students and the general public visited the stand to catch a glimpse of artifacts, farm produce, books and animal products some of which were on sale.
At the pavilion of the UCC School of Medical Sciences, a health screening exercise was carried out to check blood pressure, glucose level and the body mass index as well as free HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B testing for interested persons.
The UCC Department of Nursing educated the public on the right use of condom and encouraged Ghanaians to use it to avoid contracting Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
The Vocational and Technical Department of the University displayed assorted fruit drinks and pastries and ladies and gents’ wear produced by the department.
The UCC Department of Theatre Arts and Films show cased films and books whiles the Faculty of Social Sciences displayed bowls and cups and other items made of ceramics.
The Departments of Geography and Regional Planning, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences, Entomology and Wildlife and the School of Agriculture, which displayed fruits and vegetables, meat, beef burgers, ham and sausages.
