Government clarifies new district assemblies status
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on Monday clarified the various interpretations, meanings and slants given to the announcement by the Government with respect to the creation of new District and Municipal Assemblies.
A statement issued in Accra by Mr Samuel Ofoso-Ampofo, Sector Minister, said for the avoidance of doubt, the District carved out of the Nadowli District Assembly was Daffiama-Busie-Issa District Assembly with Issa as the District Capital.
The existing District shall be called Nadowli-Kaleo District with Nadowli as the District Capital.
The statement said in the Northern Region, the announced Daboya District shall be called North Gonja District Assembly with its capital at Daboya.
In the Volta Region, following the creation of the Adaklu District Assembly, the existing Adaklu Anyigbe District Assembly shall be called Agotime-Ziope District Assembly with the capital still at Agotime Kpetoe.
In the Ashanti Region, the newly created Agogo District Assembly shall be called Asante-Akim East District Assembly.
In the Western Region, Suaman District Assembly with its capital at Dadieso was announced, the existing district shall be called the Aowin District Assembly with its capital at Enchi.
