Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation gears up for Africa Olympic qualifier in Morocco

The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) would on Saturday, October 29, commence its monthly justify your inclusion, as part of preparations towards the 2012 Olympic qualifiers at the Bridge Boxing Gym in Accra.

The exercise dubbed “The Black Bombers Boxing Night”, has members of the regular Black Bombers team tagged as Group A, fighting their other colleagues tagged Group B in about ten bouts of the night.

According to information gathered by GNA Sports, the competition is meant to ensure that the boxers’ adapt to the new computer scoring system as well as their continuous development in their technical and tactical approach in the ring.

It is also to prepare the team adequately ahead of the Africa Olympic qualifier scheduled for 27th April – 6th May, 2012 in Casablanca-Morocco, after recent efforts by the Bombers to pick Olympic slot at the AIBA Championship in Azerbaijan failed.

In addition, the exercise would provide boxers a source of income for their upkeep as both winners and runners-up will be presented with cash prizes at the end of the competition.

It would be noted that the Black Bombers have in recent times been plagued with a multiple of difficulties which includes migration of experienced boxers to the professional ranks due to economic reasons, whilst attempts at picking an Olympic ticket at World Olympic qualifier in Baku, Azerbaijan, failed.

The Black Bombers risk missing the London 2012 Olympic Games if they fail at the Africa Olympic qualifiers in Morocco, hence the decision of the GABF to introduce the monthly competition to keep the members in shape.
