Sub-structure members of local government told to desist from partisan politics
The District Chief Executive for Jomoro, Mr Sylvester Nuamah Dadieh, on Friday urged members of the sub-structure of the Local Government system not to allow their political beliefs interfere with their work.
He said Council and Area Committee members are to promote development by uniting their communities rather than openly engaging in partisan politics which could derail development.
Mr Dadieh was opening a two-day workshop for 117 out of 250 Area Council Members in the Jomoro district at Half Assini in the Western Region.
The programme is being organised by the Jomoro District Assembly in collaboration with the Institute of Local Government Service.
It forms part of a special Regional programme designed for Urban, Zonal, Town and Area Council of District Assemblies in the Western Region.
It was aimed at exposing participants to the changing environment of Local governance, challenges, opportunities and expected roles.
The DCE advised them to be mindful of their personal appearance in their communities; be decent and avoid taking to drinking and drug abuse.
Mr Dadieh thanked the members for offering themselves to serve their people.
