Unapproved private JHS in Gomoa West to be closed down-coordinator
All Private Junior High Schools in the Gomoa West District operating without the approval by the Ghana Education Service are to be closed down at the end of this term.
The Gomoa West District Private School Co-ordinator at the district Education office of the GES, Mr Kwesi Coffie said this at their monthly meeting with proprietors of private schools in the district at Apam on Friday.
Twenty-two proprietors and some officers of the Gomoa District Education (GES) attended.
Mr Coffie appealed to the proprietors to heed to advice by officials from the GES on inspection to their schools.
He urged them to take good care of their teachers so that they also give-off their best to produce good results.
Madam Margaret Eduah, an Assistant Director in charge of supervision at the Gomoa West District Directorate of the GES advised the proprietors against overcrowding in classrooms.
She said it is very difficult for a teacher to handle large number of children in a classroom.
Madam Eduah appealed to them to employ qualified teachers and also educate the children on the need to wash their hands regularly, especially after visiting the toilet.
The chairman of the Gomoa West branch of the Ghana National Association of Private School, Mr Hayford Quaye said private schools have now agreed to prepare lesson notes to enhance teaching and learning.
Mr Quaye urged proprietors of private schools to provide facilities including urinals, toilets, good drinking water, playing grounds and salubrious environment for the comfort of their children.
The chairman also urged them to honour their tax obligation and pay the social Security deduction and other levies to the district Assembly.
