Treated mosquito nets are not harmful; use them – Dr Karikari
Dr Kwaku Anin Karikari, Western Regional Deputy Director of Public Health on Friday reiterated the call on Ghanaians to use the treated mosquito nets to avoid frequent malaria attacks.
He said the mosquito nets, which have a five-year lifespan, do not pose any health threat to the user.
Dr Karikari who was launching the second phase of the distribution of treated mosquito nets in Takoradi, called on all those who did not benefit from the first package to make themselves available for a pack.
He pointed out that to be sure of the usage, a monitoring team would do the hanging in rooms with the owners present.
The Deputy Health Director said for the sake of accountability, the wrappers would be taken away for rechecking at health centers a and therefore urged the monitoring teams to exhibit honesty and fairness in the 14 day distribution exercise.
He said UNICEF in collaboration with the National Malaria Control Unit was embarking on the free distribution exercise to kick away mosquito and called for support from the public.
