Manager granted GH¢3,000 bail for non-payment of SSNIT contributions
A Cape Coast circuit court on Tuesday granted Collins Wiafe, Manager of Kassatella Enterprise, based in Cape Coast, bail of GH¢3,000.00 with two sureties, one to be justified, for failing to pay GH¢1,329.02 as his Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributions and penalty charges.
Wiafe who pleaded guilty was convicted on his own but sentence deferred until November 16, 2011 and was ordered by the court to pay the money he owned SSNIT before he appeared in court on the adjourned date.
The SSNIT prosecutor, Mrs MaryAnn Kumi Bediako told the Court presided over by Mrs Florence Kai Otu that inspections conducted by SSNIT into the pay books of Wiafe’s establishment in respect of the period covering April and June 2011 revealed an unpaid social security contribution totaling GH¢675.25 as at June 2010 .
She said the amount had also attracted a penalty of GH¢653.77 for the period the contributions remained unpaid therefore bringing his total indebtedness to GH¢1,329.02.
