West Akyem gets 13 GETFund projects
Mr George Mensah Akpalu, Municipal Chief Executive of West Akyem, on Wednesday said since the present Government took office, the area had benefited from 13 GETFund projects.
He said those projects had already been completed and three other projects were yet to be awarded on contract.
Mr Akpalu, who was addressing the second ordinary meeting of the West Akyem Municipal Assembly at Asamankese, said eleven projects were funded from the District Development Fund, ten of which had been completed.
They include school projects, preparation of sites, storm water drain projects and the Asamankese Lorry Park.
Mr Akpalu said the executive committee of the assembly could not inaugurate the lorry park because of the 20-seater water closet public place of convenience supplementary project it was undertaking.
He said work on Asamankese Wesley Junior High School and police cells were completed while a six-unit classroom block at Asikasu, the PWD block and the municipal assembly hall were about 70 per cent completed.
Mr Akpalu said the assembly had paid substantial part of the GH¢1,200,000 debt of the assembly and was left with about GH¢400,000 debt to settle.
He said the assembly would support the police in the municipality with logistics to enable them to work effectively.
