Book to enhance teaching of mathematics launched

As part of efforts to make the study and teaching of Mathematics more attractive to students in Junior High Schools (JHS), two new editions of “Essential Mathematics Course” textbook had been introduced.

Mr Philip Kwasi Gyawu Baffour, a Ghanaian Educationist, based in London authored the books.

The books cover all the syllabi of the JHS and had received the approval of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Mr Baffour said they had been so designed to make the teaching of the subject easier.

The introduction of the new books followed a research conducted in most of the schools where it was found that many students tended to depend on past questions rather than text books.

He said he was confident that his books would help all students to have thorough grasp of the fundamental principles and concepts of Mathematics.
