Political parties asked to ensure civil campaign
Madam Anima Wilson, Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, has called on political parties to ensure civility in the campaign ahead of Election 2012.
She said Ghana could not afford any nasty political incidents given the global admiration for of democracy in the country.
Madam Wilson, who was addressing the 20th anniversary celebration of the Atwima-Nwabiagya Ewe Union, at Nkawie, said other African countries were looking up to Ghana for leadership in the conduct of free, transparent and credible elections.
She condemned ethnocentrism and urged Ghanaians to foster peace, unity and national cohesion.
Nana Asare Bediako, the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive, called on the people to patronize the voter registration exercise when it gets underway to enable them to exercise their franchise..
He promised that the District Assembly would help the union to achieve its goal of promoting harmony.
