Government has provided Gomoa West with 108 projects in less than three years – DCE
The government has provided the people of Gomoa West with 108 projects in less than three years, Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, District Chief Executive, has said.
He gave the breakdown of the projects as 57 school buildings, 48 of which had been completed and nine under construction, seven Community Health Planning and Service (CHPS) compound, five nurses quarters and 10 teachers’ quarters.
The others are electricity supply to 25 communities, construction of two markets and reconstruction of two roads for tarring.
Mr Aidoo-Mensah said this at Gomoa Simbrofo, Gomoa Oguan and Gomoa Abonko when he inspected projects as part of his tour of the district.
He said funds for projects were provided by the Social Investment Fund, District Assembly Common Fund, District Development Facility, Urban Poverty Reduction Project Fund, and the Assembly’s Internally Generated Fund.
Mr Aidoo-Mensah spoke about the perennial water problem facing communities in Gomoa, and said the government was building a water treatment plant on River Ochie at Gomoa Antseadze to provide water to the people of Gomoa and Ekumfi.
He said as an interim measure the District Assembly had provided polytanks to communities badly hit by the water problem and also a acquired water tanker to provide water to such communities.
Mr Aidoo-Mensah commended the President and Mr Francis Kodjo Arthur, the Member of Parliament for the area, for the invaluable services to the people of Gomoa West and urged the electorate to rally behind them for more projects.
