Pan African Council petitions Ghana’s Parliament to fight neo-colonialism
The Pan African Council (PAC) has described the murder of Muammar Gaddaffi, the former Libyan Leader, as part of a grand neo-colonial strategy of global domination.
Mr Granfadaa Ayitomeka, member for PAC, made the remark in a petition to Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs to mark the 40th day of the death of the late hero.
He noted that the doctrine behind this brazen bid for world hegemony, was humanitarian war under, which the US with her European allies arrogate onto itself the right to wage war against any nation that was suspected of harboring any ill intentions against her.
PAC is a non-profit making people’s organization, which was committed towards the promotion of African unity and upholding, protecting and preserving the Pan-Africanist legacy of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, and a foremost revolutionary Pan Africanist.
He said in Africa, the lament was not only the loss of Gadaffi as the blow suffered in our long and painful march towards the dream of our true liberation, but the effects, the building blocks Gaddaffi was molding, African Investment Bank, African Monetary Fund and African Central Bank, had been laid to waste given the surrogate character of the Libyan rebels, the NTC.
Mr Ayitomeka said when one dissented and stood up for their people, they came at them, saying “so they cut down Lumumba, Nkrumah, Sankara, Nasser, Gbagbo among others.
He said the lack of nerve of the AU leadership was an act of negation, an act of self-abjuration, saying that the AU should live up to the realities of the present and put on the armored gown to resist oppresors.
“The act of consciousness awakening demands that the AU should pledge never again shall the strategy in Libya happen anywhere on African soil. AU and the government of Ghana should withdraw from the international criminal court because of its biases against African people.”
“We cherish and admired Gaddaffi’s valor and commitment to his convictions and Pan Africanism he fought to prevent his country and Africa from falling prey to Western economic strangulation and resisted the unjust and evil geopolitical machinations of inserting Libya into their strategic geopolitical design and today he is a Pan African Revolutionary icon.
Mr Hackman Owusu Agyemang, NPP member for New Juaben North, said African leaders had to learn that there would come a time when the will and welfare of the people could not be taken for granted.
He said Africans were part of the global scene and those in Leadership must be responsive to the needs of the people, adding that what happened in Libya was very unfortunate.
Mr Frank Boakye Agyen, Member of Parliament for Efiduase Asokore, said Africans should address the problem from within before reaching out to the external world or the West.
He noted that the love for power and to stay in it for long years like 40 to 50 years was not helpful to the people of Africa.
He added that African countries needed to also live up to expectation so as not to fall prey to this kind of treatment by the West.
Mrs Shirley Ayorkor Botwe, member for Weija, appealed to the Council to present this petition to other African Parliaments, Pan African Parliaments and ECOWAS to take action on such issues affecting the continent.
