Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank is Forbes Africa Person of the Year 2011
Lamido Sanusi, Central Bank Governor of Nigeria has been named winner of the inaugural Forbes Africa Person of the Year 2011.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held in Lagos, Nigeria on November 28, 2011.
Sanusi was named winner from a shortlist of five of Africa’s most influential personalities – Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote, Mo Ibrahim prize winner and ex-leader of Cape Verde Pedro Verona Pires and the late Kenyan environmentalist Wangari Maathai.
Mr Sanusi has pledged to root out unethical practices in the Nigerian banking sector.
