Global Peace and Social Welfare Conference is fraudulent – US Official

The international conference dubbed “Global Peace and Social Welfare,” being organised by Aid for Humanity Organisation based in Florida is an advance fee fraud, a US official told the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Tuesday.

“This is just one type of the thousands of scam variants sent out each day by 419 scammers. That is an internet scam,”  the US official explained to GNA during an investigation to ascertain the credibility of the world conference on Global Peace and Social Welfare.

GNA investigations revealed that several individuals in the country had received invitation to participate in the forth-coming conference being organised by Aid for Humanity Organisation (AHO) in collaboration with other sponsors.

It is supposed to take place from February 20 to February 25, 2012 and interested participants are directed to send their names exactly as in their passport; passport numbers; date of birth; place of birth; country of residence; occupation; contact number;  and personal email address to the event secretariat by email: ([email protected]).

Other contacted details required are name of organisation if any; full home and office address; telephone number and fax number.

The invitation letters are purportedly signed by one Professor Dominic Hybeth; Head Office Secretary Desk; Aid for Humanity Organization; SW 307th st Homestead, FL 33034; United States of America; T: +1 352 582 7049.

GNA investigations revealed that participants are encouraged to participate as a group representing a country or organisation.

According to the requirements, “Independent donors and sponsors of the conference will be responsible for registration of participants’ air tickets and visa arrangement; all visa documents will be processed in US before participants will be informed for visa collection.

“All participants are responsible and to pay for their hotel accommodation with the selected hotel – SKang Hotel, [email protected] tel: +1 (850) 273-6389 to enable participants to secure their accommodation for the conference.

“Immediately participants are registered for the conference and hotel booking is secured with the selected hotel, an official invitation letter will be sent to participants by fax or e-mail, participants who intend to stay with relatives or friends during the conference are to process their visa themselves and send us the visa scan copy before air tickets will be sent.

“Participants who have US valid visa are only to make their hotel booking with the selected hotel and send to our office the booking confirmation receipt before air tickets can be sent”.

GNA investigations revealed that sometimes any real people and or legitimate organisations whose actual names or other details appeared in these scam invitations have absolutely no connection with the scam.

According to security information, scammers never use their real names, but frequently take on the identity of real people to help make themselves and their scam appear legitimate.
