AEED outlines projects for 2012

The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly has unanimously approved the construction of a hostel at the Ajumako Campus of the University of Education,Winneba.

The Assembly said this is its widow’s unite towards the development, promotion, and improvement of higher education in the district.

The District Chief Executive, Mr Peter Light Koomson, said in a sessional address that a composite budget, aimed at deepening decentralization, had been submitted to the Ministry Finance and Economic Planning to be incorporated into the national budget, to give room for more development projects.

Mr Koomson said the Assembly built five CHPS compounds, sponsored three midwifery students, established a blood bank and cost of transporting women in labour to any established hospital in the district.

He said he was not happy with the slow pace of work on the construction of emergency classroom blocks for Enyan Dankyira and Biasease Senior Higher School which was started almost a year ago.

He said on assumption of office only 3 schools in the district enjoyed the school feeding programme and this has increased to 19.
Mr Koomson said the Assembly would spend GH¢1,950,850.00 of its Common Fund would be used on projects while GH¢395,985.00 from the District Development Fund would also be used on capacity building and projects.

The Presiding Member Solomon F. Cobbinah said the assembly with the consent of the Ministry of Local Government had bought 69 motorbikes for distribution to assembly members.
