Man jailed 10 years for possessing Indian hemp
A 20-year-old farmer, Bismark Kumi, alias “Raskobby” from Twifo Praso was on Tuesday sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by a circuit court at Cape for possessing Indian hemp.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and pleaded with the court to deal leniently with him.
The court ordered that the substance be destroyed in the presence of the court clerks, the police and journalists.
Chief Inspector Francis Ockom told the court presided over by Mrs Florence Kai Otu, said that on Wednesday September 28 at about 1400 hours the police arrested Kumi with eight pieces of wrapped substances suspected to be wee in a polythene bag at the Twifo Praso number one lorry station.
The prosecution said an examination at the police forensic laboratory indicated that that substance was Indian hemp.
