Builsa Assembly receives 73 motorbikes

Mr Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, on Wednesday presented 73 motorbikes to the Builsa District Assembly, at Sandema, to facilitate the work of Assembly Members.

Presenting the motorbikes, the Minister said Government introduced the motorbike system to help improve work of the assemblies and to deepen democracy in all areas.

He said Assembly Members needed to play vital roles to bring development to the people who voted for them.

Mr Woyongo cautioned the Assembly Members to use the motorbikes for the purposes for which they were provided and to observe traffic regulations.

As Christmas drew near, they should not drink and ride to curb the spate of accidents that occur in the region.

Mr George Abavelin a retired District Superintend of Police and Presiding Member for the Assembly, who received the motorbikes on behalf of other members, expressed appreciation to Government for the support.

He appealed to Government to pay the members maintenance allowance to enable them to maintain the motorbikes.
