Chief Imam sends Christmas message

Chief Imam Nuhu Sharabutu

Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, National Chief Imam, has commended religious leaders for their efforts in the crusade against homosexuality.

He said religious leaders and traditional leaders should not to relent in their effort to curb homosexuality even though it was becoming a thing of the past.

This was contained in a statement issued to Ghana News Agency on Tuesday to wish all Christians belated Merry Christmas.

Sheikh Sharubutu said it was important for Ghanaians to exhibit the good moral values instilled in the communities by our parents and faith leaders adding that it was not easy to meet decent and high valued morals such as that seen in the lives of Prophet Mohammed and Jesus Christ, without Allah’s support and guidance.

“We must persistently seek ways and means to glorify Allah by doing the right thing and abstaining from the evils such as homosexuality and crime against one another”, he said.

He expressed happiness about how all leaders of the major religions came together to denounce the spread of homosexuality in the country.

Sheikh Sharubutu warned the public to desist from engaging in homosexuality.

Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu’s rhetoric is to be expected, but his attempt to use hatred to unite two irreconcilable religions fails miserably.

The fact is that religious leaders in the world today are far from the virtuous lives recommended by Jesus or Mohammed, and that non-believers have an excellent sense of morality without the so-called guidance of institutional religions.

Religions are becoming a thing of the past.

Moreover, it has been scientifically proven that homosexuality is a perfectly normal and natural sexual orientation.

Be on the right side of history, and promote universal human rights now.

There may be more important issues than homosexualitiy, even in a country like Ghana. So far, homosexuality has been less of a scourge to mankind than religion and its bigotry.

So it’s a religious message of hatred? “Normally we hate each other, but look over there! We can both hate THOSE guys TOGETHER! Happy holidays!”
