Effutu CPP executives resign

The entire executives of the Effutu branch of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) say they have resigned from the party with immediate effect.

In a statement signed by Mr Charles Enninful, Effutu constituency chairman and Mr Joseph Ekow Nunu, constituency organizer on behalf of the entire executives, with a copy made available to the Ghana News Agency in Winneba on Tuesday, they stated that they had resigned en-block.

The statement said since the National Congress of the party in September, “we have not heard anything from the party hierarchy as regards to party organisation until December 23, 2011 when an amount of 100.00 Ghana cedis, some few registration cards and posters were brought to us”.

It said the amount and the items brought from the National Headquarters of the Party for organizational work was “insult to those of us who sacrifice day in and day out to make this a party”.

“We feel betrayed and scandalized by the party leadership because they have not adhered to their campaign promises of bringing resources into the party”.

The statement said the party made a plea for them to strengthen polling station executives, but three months after coming into office not one exercise has been done towards this goal.

It said there is no time on the part of the party as other parties are far advanced in preparation towards the 2012 general elections.

After considering this, the statement said  “we are of the view that the present crop of leadership are not about the business of attaining power”.

They described as unacceptable the current misunderstanding among some party leaders and that insulting people who have over the years sacrificed for the party was not the best.

The statement said “it was indeed Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, through an organisation called Movement, that recruited 95 percent of us into the CPP in Effutu constituency and disrespect against him is disrespect against us”.

Other members of the executives were Madam Ophelia Boatimah, Women Organizer, Mr Harry Hackman, Youth Organizer, Mr Buah, Second Vice Chairman, Mr Robert, Assistant Secretary and Nana Ofori, First Vice chairman.
