GH¢36m science and technology school complex underway in Yendi
A thirty-six million Ghana cedi Science and Technology educational complex classroom block is under construction at Kuga, a suburb of Yendi, in the Yendi Municipality of the Northern Region.
The project, being funded by 7As Unique Service and its Partners from Canada, is to provide a foundation in the knowledge of Science and Technology from the Junior High School to the University level.
Proprietor of the institute Mr. Nathaniel Adams Jnr. announced this when he conducted the Yendi Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Issah Zakaria, the Municipal Coordinating Director Alhaji Shahu Kadri and the Engineer of the Assembly to inspect the project.
Mr. Adams Jnr. stated that phase one, comprising the construction of a Junior High School, had taken off with the completion of the design.
He indicated that the Junior High School classes would start in the next academic year in September 2012 with 60 students.
According to the Proprietor, the purpose of establishing the institute was to provide knowledge through quality education and also to support the Government, the Municipal Assembly and the Traditional council in their quest to improve on education in Yendi Municipality and the country as a whole.
Mr. Adams indicated that the project when completed would be the first of its kind in the Region and would also help a lot of students to develop interest in science and technology courses.
He said the institution, would comprise Junior High School, Senior High School and a University respectively.
The Yendi Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Issah Zakaria stated that establishing science and technological institution in the Yendi Municipality was very laudable.
Mr. Zakaria said 7As was also into hygiene and sanitation, agriculture, industry and hospitality and education, which had gone a long way in helping the Municipality and other districts in the Eastern corridor.
He indicated that the Government encouraged the Private Sector by helping them in so many ways.
He said the institution would ease the educational challenges the area was facing particularly during admission of students.
Mr. Zakaria said the Assembly was prepared to support the institution when the need arises.
In another development, the Regent of Dagbong Kapankuya Naa-Yakubu Abdulai Andani has assured the Management of the institution that more land would be allocated to expand the infrastructure.
