Catholic Church Inaugurates GH¢700,000 OPD at Sirigu Health Centre

The Most Reverend Alfred Agyenta, Catholic Bishop of the Navrongo-Bolgatanga Diocese, on Thursday inaugurated an Out Patient Department (OPD) valued at about GH¢708,840 for the  Sirigu  Health Centre in the Kassena-Nankana West District.

The facility consists of four consulting rooms, a dispensary, an accounts office, two store rooms, an injection room and an ambulance bay.

The Bishop said the Catholic Church was concerned with the spiritual, social and physical wellbeing of the people.

Rev. Agyenta said the Diocese has also constructed a maternity block for Mary Health Centre at Knogo in the Talensi-Nabdam District at the cost of GH¢125,689, an OPD at the St Theresa Health Center at Zorkor in the Bongo District at the cost of GH¢227,026, and an eight-unit staff quarters at St Lucas Health Center at Wiaga in the Builsa District, at the cost of GH¢128,552.

He commended the Ghana Health Service (GHS) for delivering health care to the people and called for the provision of equipment and personnel to the GHS to it to effectively serve the people of the Upper East Region.

Mr Roland Abangiba, a Medical Superintendent at the Health Centre, thanked the church for the assistance and called the religious body to expedite action on modalities to upgrade the facility into a hospital.
