Kumasi MCE pledges to strengthen relations with chiefs
The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Samuel Sarpong, has expressed the determination of the Assembly to deepen its collaboration with the Kumasi Traditional Council to bring development to the people.
He said under no circumstance would the chiefs be sidelined in the planning and implementation of the Assembly’s development programmes.
Mr Sarpong was performing the ceremony to mark the formal commencement of expansion works on the Anloga/Oforikrom market.
The GH¢28 million project involves the construction of 480 lockable stores and offices, 180 open sheds and a car park.
Boasagyem Construction Company has been awarded the job, which is expected to be ready within six months.
The KMA Chief Executive gave the assurance that more markets would be built and on-going ones completed to provide adequate space for traders and businesses in the Metropolis.
He advised the people to be law-abiding and to honour their tax obligations to help the Assembly to carry through with its development agenda.
Togbui Mawufeami Fugah, Head of the Ewe Community of Ashanti, praised the government for providing the area with its fair share of development infrastructure.
Mr Bright Osei Agyemang, Managing Director of the Construction Company, said they would deliver the project within schedule and ensure value for money.
Mr Evans Kwabla Ablordeppey, an Assembly member, called for more projects in the area.
