Six people die in accident at Sefwi-Appiahkrom
Six people, including two children and a pregnant woman died on the spot when an articulated truck run over a taxi in which they were travelling at Appiakrom near Sefwi-Bekwai in the Sewfi Wiawso District.
Another person died later at the Sewfi Wiaswo Government Hospital, and all the dead have been identified and deposited at the hospital for autopsy.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP ) Joseph Apaloo, Sefwi-Wiawso Divisional Mottor Traffic and Transport Unit Commander, confirmed the tragedy to the GNA on telephone on Sunday.
He said last Friday evening at about 0018 hours an articulated truck loaded with cocoa from Bonsu Nkwanta run over the taxi killing all the persons on board, including the driver, Alex Essel.
DSP Apaloo said the driver of the truck has been arrested and place in police custody for questioning.
The Appiahkrom accident comes barely a week after the Senya Breku fatal accident, involving a water tanker that run over 27 people, killing them, and leaving other persons injured.
