MMDAs to start internship programme for professional graduates
With effect from this year 2012, the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) would engage professional graduates under an internship programme to understudy the local government system.
The Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo who made this known in Koforidua explained that the policy is aimed at ensuring that certain category of professionals needed for the smooth development of the districts are always available .
The Minister who was addressing the 2011 Great Commission Church International Youth Encounter called on the youth to be adventurous and take advantage of all opportunities that comes their way to build their physical and mental capacity to prepare them adequately for the future.
The youth encounter is an annual leadership training programme for the youth leaders of the church.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo asked young undergraduates not to wait till they complete school before thinking of what work to do.
He said while on campus they should share ideas to come out with new ways of doing things that could help solve the various challenges facing the country in the creation of jobs for young people.
Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said big businesses started in very small ways and thrived on integrity.
He observed that the country needs people who could stand up and resist corruption.
Responding to the national debate on gay marriages, he said Ghana has laws, which ban same sex marriages.
Apostle Samuel Antwi, Chairman of the Executive Council of the church called for the promotion of water harvesting as a building policy in the country.
