Jirapa is not a safe NDC seat – NDC Aspirant

Mr. Paul Derigubaa, National Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirant for the Jirapa Constituency says the party needs a person with “down- to- earth qualities” to win the seat for the NDC in the 2012 polls.

He said the Jirapa seat historically did not belong to the NDC but a seat for the New Patriotic Party tradition and care must be taken not to allow the people to sway back to their roots.

Mr. Derigubaa was interacting with Journalists in Jirapa to access his chances of wining the primaries to contest the 2012 parliamentary election on the ticket of the NDC.

He paid tribute to the late Mr. Edward Kojo Salia, a former Member of Parliament for Jirapa, who worked diligently to sustain the seat for the NDC and appealed to the Party delegates to elect a credible person who has similar qualities of Mr. Salia to lead the party.

Mr. Derigubaa said development in the district, especially in the road sector had not been anything good to talk about, pointing out that very little work had been added to what the NPP did during the past three years.

The NDC has also no constituency office of its own in the district capital and called on the Government to support the party to sustain its activities in the area.

He said the support base of the Party was dwindling because of leadership challenges and called on the NDC leadership to address it.

Mr. Derigubaa mentioned education, entrepreneurial skill training, agriculture and health development as some of the priority areas he would want to tackle if given the mandate to lead the people.
