CPP takes decisive action against executives
The Central Committee of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) in a unanimous decision on Thursday interdicted five executive members of the Party pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings.
They are; Mr Murtala Mohammed, National Youth Organiser, Ms Mary Ankomah-Boakye Boateng, National Women’s Organiser, Dr Ben Kwofie, Ashanti Regional Chairman and Mr Kwame Murtala, Northern Regional Youth Organiser.
They have been referred to the Disciplinary Committee and interdicted on the grounds of contravening a number of provisions of the Constitution.
A statement issued in Accra by Nii Armah Akomfrah, Director of Communications said the meeting acted in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Party Constitution, particularly Article 112 (2) which states that “ an office holder referred to the disciplinary committee may be interdicted pending the outcome of the disciplinary proceedings”.
The meeting also deliberated on a wide range of issues including the finalisation of all appointments and organisational plans for 2012.
The Central Committee, in accordance with the Party’s Constitution also empanelled a five- member Disciplinary Committee under the Chairmanship of Professor Edmund Delle.
Other members of the Committee are Major Sedziafa (Rtd), Ms Araba Bentsi-Enchill, Mrs Elizabeth Akpalu and Mr Yaw Osafo.
The Central Committee appointed the Party’s spokespersons for the Shadow Cabinet including; Prof Agyemang-Badu Akosa, Health, Dr Kwaku Osafo, Finance and Economic Planning, Kwame Jantuah, Trade and Industry and Dr Abu Sakara, Foreign Affairs.
The Central Committee also commended members of the Party who stood firm and resolute against inducements and coercive and deceitful attempts seeking to lure them away from the CPP.
At the end of the meeting the leadership of the Party received unequivocal backing from the Central Committee for its handling of Party affairs and affirmed complete loyalty and commitment to the CPP.
