Effutu Assembly committed to improve lives of people – MCE
The Effutu Assembly has so far distributed a total of 6,299 uniforms for basic schools in the Municipality under Government’s Free Uniform Policy.
The Assembly has also distributed 4,900 exercise books for pupils in basic schools. The Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim made this known at a public forum in Winneba on Saturday.
He said the Assembly had also supplied 562 school furniture for the schools as well constructed 12 educational infrastructure projects made up of 10 school structures and two teachers’ quarters.
In collaboration with the Community Based Rural Development Project (CBRDP), Nii Ephraim said the Assembly had in addition rehabilitated a number of feeder roads in the area.
To ensure routine maintenance of town roads, the Assembly procured a grader, which was being used for routine maintenance of the feeder roads within the Municipality, he said.
The MCE said to ensure maximum security, the Assembly had procured electrical fittings to replace malfunctioning street lights. It has also extended electricity to some communities including newly developed areas.
Nii Ephraim said the flow of resources had been a major challenge to the Assembly, adding the inflows of the Assembly kept dwindling over the years.
The MCE said the Assembly was committed to continue providing socio-economic infrastructure to improve the lives of the people.
He said a number of development activities had been outlined in the Assembly’s 2012 Annual Action Plan and the Composite Budget.
Projects under the plan include construction of a three-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities, procurement of 420 pieces of school furniture for basic schools, one cesspool emptier, assorted waste management equipment, construction of ICT centres, and completion of 3-storey office complex block.
