Driver jailed 3 years for stealing water flow reader
A 19- year-old driver, Patrick Ayebeng, has been sentenced to 3 years imprisonment in hard labour for stealing a water flow reader valued at GH¢2,999.70.
He pleaded guilty.
Police Prosecuting Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court that the complainant is the metallurgical supervisor of Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa, while the convict, Patrick Ayebeng, is a driver with Nakas Company and the second accused Confidence Greg is also a member of the protection unit in the same company.
He said on January 3 the complainant was on his routine heap inspection when he spotted a vehicle with registration number AS 9781-11 driven by the convict and when it was searched the item was found.
The convict admitted the offence when he was interrogated but the second accused denied his involvement and was remanded to reappear on January 12.
