Government would maintain its focus – DCE
Mr Kenneth Tom Budu, District Chief Executive of the Akyemmansa District, has inaugurated a six unit primary classroom block to replace the existing structure built in 1945 at Bosovilla.
He said the provision of the facility would help provide a congenial atmosphere for teaching and learning adding that he was not happy with the general performance of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results in the district and challenged all stakeholders to assist reverse the trend in this year’s examination.
The GH¢140,000.00 structure includes a staff common room, an office, a library and a store.
He said the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Government would remain focused to ensure that the Better Ghana Agenda as espoused by President Mills was maintained to enhance the living standard of all Ghanaians.
Mr Budu said no one could deny the NDC government’s achievements since assuming power and appealed to the citizenry not to allow anyone to “throw dust into their eyes”.
The DCE announced that as a result of personal intervention of Vice- President John Mahama and the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, the 24-kilometre Ayirebi-Ofoase-Chia road would be tarred before the end of the year.
Mr Fred H. Kpoor, the District Director of Education, commended the people for their sense of commitment and sacrifices in providing an electric generator to the students in the town and for providing accommodation to teachers too.
He gave the assurance that the District Directorate would continue to put in place all the necessary measures to improve upon education in the district and presented 27 boys and 39 girls’ school uniforms to the school children.
The Headteacher, Mr Isaac Afful, appealed to the government, non-governmental organizations and individuals to assist the school with computers.
Nana Kwame Gyan II, the chief of Bosovilla, who chaired the program, expressed his appreciation to the government and appealed that the school be added to the school feeding program.
