President Mills accepts Betty Mould-Iddrisu’s resignation Letter

President John Evans Atta Mills on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Mrs Betty Mould Iddrisu as Minister of Education.

Mrs Mould-Iddrisu is said to have tendered her letter on Monday, January 23, 2012.

Her resignation is believed to be in relation to issues surrounding the payment debt of GH¢58 million to Mr Alfred Agbesi Woyome, a businessman.

A press statement signed by My Koku Anyidoho, Director of Communication at the Office of the President, on Tuesday said President Mills accepted Mrs Mould-Iddrisu’s resignation and thanked her for the “services rendered to the people of Ghana during the period she served in Government, and…wished her well”.

Meanwhile, Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, Mr Enoch Teye- Mensah, has been assigned additional responsibility to oversee the Education Ministry until further notice.

Mrs Mould-Iddrisu becomes the second Cabinet Minister in the Mills Administration to have exited from Government over the Woyome judgment debt issue following on the heels of former Attorney General, Martin Amidu.
