Court sentences cleaner to 15 years imprisonment for theft
A 27-year-old cleaner has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court for theft.
Nestol Adongo pleaded guilty for stealing a 32-inch television set, two laptop computers, eight cellular phones and digital camera valued at GH¢8,700.00 in addition to a cash of GH¢5,200.00, belonging to his employer.
Police Chief Inspector Sylvanus D´almeida told the court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amoh-Yartey that the complainant, Kwadwo Oware, is a businessman and operates an electrical shop at Adum, Kumasi, whilst the convict works there as a cleaner.
The prosecution said on January 4, Adongo broke into the shop and made away with the items and cash.
Three weeks after the theft, he attempted another break in, but this time he run out of luck and was caught in the act.
Police Chief Inspector D´almeida said the LCD television, one of the laptop computers, five cellular phones, the digital camera and cash of GH¢2,500.00 were retrieved from his room by the police during their investigations.
