Strong Annan wants to honour Late mum with Ghana Afcon cup title
Ghana’s midfielder Anthony Annan is eager to help Black Stars win the 2012 Afcon cup title to honour his Late mother, Madam Sophia Sampson who passed away late Thursday February 2, 2012.
Despite the demise of his mum, Anthony Annan has decided to stay at camp in Franceville.
“I am saddened by the death of my mother but I am still focused and committed to going out there to play for my nation and help win the Africa Cup of Nations title. Winning the title would serve as a big honour in memory of my mother,” Annan told the Ghana FA’s website today February 3, 2012.
The player’s mother died in a hospital in Cape Coast after falling ill.
The Ghana FA said the news stunned the entire Black Stars team in Franceville, with many consoling the midfielder.
Ghana plays Tunisia Sunday February 5, 2012 at the quarter-finals.
