Farmer jailed seven years for defilement

The Nkawie Circuit Court has sentenced a 30-year old farmer  to seven years imprisonment for defilement.

Yaw Dwumah, was additionally, ordered to pay GH¢300.00 as compensation to the victim or spend another six months in prison.

He denied the offence.

Police Detective Sergeant Jonas Adjei told the Court presided over by Justice Frank Owusu Afriyie that the victim lives with the mother at Boakyekrom, a cottage, near Sreso-Timpom in the Atwima-Mponua District of the Asante Region.

The convict stays in another village nearby cottage called Agya-Manu.

On June 16, last year, the little girl was sent to buy salt from Agya-Manu and midway through the journey, she met Dwumah, who tricked her to follow him to the house to collect a gift of bread and Milo beverage drink.

The Prosecution the convict sexually abused her and threatened her with death if she told anybody about her ordeal.

He said the victim on her return reported the incident to the mother.

A report was made to the Police and Dwumah was arrested.

Doctors who treated her confirmed in their report that she had indeed been defiled.
