Office clerk before Court for abetment
A magistrate court at Bibiani has granted GH¢5,000 bail to Emmanuel Eshun Armoo, a 34-year-old clerk of Ghana Bauxite Company at Awaso in the Western Region, for abetment of crime.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear on February 17, 2012.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Asamoah told the court presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako that the complainant is a staff of the company’s haulage department.
The prosecution said the accused was responsible for issuing chits to drivers of the company to collect fuel from two local filling stations for official work at Awaso.
Chief Inspector Asamaoh told the court that on 3rd January 2011, 10th October 2011, 16th and 17th of October 2011, the accused issued two chits each instead of one to Dacosta Yiadome Boakye, Emmanuel Crenstil Haruna Mumuni and Alatif Allassan, all drivers of the company, to collect fuel from the filling stations.
The prosecution said on their journey to convey Bauxite from Awaso to Takoradi, the drivers siphoned 3,100 litres of fuel from their vehicles being excess of fuel they bought with the extra chits.
Chief Inspector Asamoah said when the complainant had a tip off on the siphoning of the fuel, he (complainant) cross checked the company’s fuel chit receipt and detected that the accused had issued double chits to the drivers.
He said the drivers sensing danger, bolted but the clerk was arrested.
