Court jails farmhand 10 years for defilement
An Nkawie Circuit Court presided over by Justice Frank Owusu Afriyie, has sentenced a farmhand to 10 years imprisonment for defiling a 13 year-old girl.
Yakubu Usman pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Police Detective Sergeant Jonas Adjei told the court that on May 6, last year, the parents left the girl in the care of the convict and travelled for three days.
He said a day after the couple had left, he armed himself with a cutlass at dawn, pushed the door to the room where the victim was sleeping and sexually assaulted her.
The girl informed her parents when they returned from the trip leading to the arrest of Usman.
