Community sets up nine watchdog committees
The chiefs and opinion leaders of Odupong/Ofaankor in the Central Region, have set up nine community watchdog committees to support the Kasoa Police Command in providing security for the area.
In all 135 volunteers are being offered the requisite training by the police to undertake watch-dog functions.
Mr David Papa Nii Arhin, Assemblyman for Odupong/Ofaankor, made this known to the Ghana News Agency after a meeting with organisers of the watch-dog committees at Ofaankor.
He praised the chiefs and the opinion leaders for their quick response to the call for the formation of watch-dog groups, saying it will go a long way to assist the police in their efforts at combating criminal activities in and around Odupong/Ofaankor township.
He appealed to residents to collaborate with the watch-dog committees and the police to bring about the necessary peace, safety and progress in the community.
