Doctor calls for media specialisation in mental health reporting
Dr. Emmanuel Teye- Adjase, Director, College of Health – Kintampo Project, has called on media practitioners to specialize in mental health reportage.
Dr Teye-Adjase made the call on Friday at the close of a four-day evaluation meeting held at Kintampo, attended by medical personnel, nurses and para-medical staff of the College.
He said the project is meant to target issues affecting mental health and expressed the need for the passage of the mental health bill currently before Parliament.
Dr. Teye-Adjase said the Kintampo Project, started within the Kintampo College of Health in the year 2007, to scale up the community mental health workforce and to provide career opportunities for medical assistants and community health officers to help workforce retention.
