Office complex for Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be completed 2013
Chinese Engineers, a company building a new office complex for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, on Monday said the project would be completed by February next year.
Mr Li Xiao Tao, Project Manager of Yan Jian Group, gave the assurance when Alhaji Mohammad Mumuni, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, inspected the 15-million-dollar office complex, under construction, in Accra.
He told journalists at the site that 40 per cent of the project had so far been completed.
Mr Tao said the building would be fitted with bi-layer-glass windows with a vacuum in the middle to conserve energy in the offices.
He said the inner wall of the offices would be equipped with technology that employs the energy-conserving system of a thermos flask to regulate the temperature in the rooms.
On the conference room, the Project Manager said it would be fitted with “interpretation system.”
The office complex, would include two six-storey blocks, a conference room, a library and a canteen, when completed.
It would accommodate 450 staff who are currently located at the former burnt down offices at the Ministry and the current location at the Flagstaff house.
Alhaji Mumuni extolled the contributions of the Ministry towards attracting foreign direct investments and to help deliver the Government’s “Better Ghana Agenda.”
He stressed that the role of the Ministry in promoting friendly relations and economic integration between Ghana and other countries, advance Ghanaian exports, tourism potential as well as enhancing Ghana’s image abroad, could not be overemphasized.
Alhaji Mumuni said the project was being supported by China through an interest-free loan facility and Ghanaian tax-payers’ money.
