Don’t collude with former government workers to defraud the State – Chief Director
The Chief Director of the Western Regional Coordinating Council, Mr. David Yaro, on Friday appealed to heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to refrain from condoning and conniving with former civil servants to collect monthly salaries.
He said there had been instances whereby some government workers who had left the Civil Service still collected monthly salaries from government payroll with the connivance of some unscrupulous heads of department.
Mr. Yaro gave the advice at an education forum on the mechanized payroll system organized by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for civil servants in Takoradi.
The forum, the fourth in the series nationwide, is to educate and explain the principles of the single spine pay policy as well as take suggestions from civil servants in order to improve the quality of payment.
The Deputy Controller, Madam Grace Adzoe, said 53 institutions on the government’s payroll had been migrated onto the SSSS thus representing 90% of organizations migrated so far.
She said the CAGD had established payroll clinics in metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies across the country with desk officers who had been mandated to take complaints from civil servants and forward them to the head office for rectification.
