Education interventions must reflect on performance of pupils – MCE
Alhaji Yakubu Duogu, Wa Municipal Chief Executive, has said the massive expansion of education infrastructure and other pro-poor education interventions should motivate teachers to tackle the challenge of falling standards in education.
“There will be no excuse for not progressing if the teaching and learning environment continues to improve as a result of the massive investment made by the Government…”, he said.
He said this during the inauguration of a six-unit classroom block constructed at a cost of GH¢155,585.00 at Gbegriu, a community in the Wa Municipal.
Alhaji Duogu said the Assembly had taken delivery of 3,000 pieces of dual desks and 800 pieces of mono desks at a cost of GH¢385,200.00 and would be distributed to school in the municipality.
He appealed to the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Sulemana Alhassan, and his staff to step up their monitoring and supervisory role to check teacher absenteeism and also ensure that they spend more productive time with their students in schools.
