Labourer in GH¢600 bail for unlawful entry

A circuit court at Akim Swedru in the Birim South District, has admitted a labourer to GH¢600 with one surety, for allegedly loitering on the compound of the Oda Senior High School without authority.

The labourer, Kofi Affum, pleaded not guilty to “being on the premises for unlawful purposes” and would reappear before the court, presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong on March 30.

Police Detective Inspector Wilberforce Kwaku Appiah said the complainant is a day security man at the school, while the accused is a labourer. On February 27, this year at about 1445 hours, the complainant was on duty at one of the dormitories when he saw Affum on a bicycle emerging from a bush-path to the school compound.

He said the accused went to a certain hamlet behind the school and spent about 30 minutes before returning to the compound and stood near a bungalow.

According to Inspector Appiah, the complainant then saw Affum remove a muffler and covered his face, but the complainant immediately apprehended him. When interrogated, Affum could not tangibly explain why he was on the compound.

He said the accused was then sent to the headmaster of the school, who stated that since the school had experienced series of theft on the compound, the accused should be handed over to the police for the necessary action.
