Ghana, Equatorial Guinea to cooperate on energy, agric

The governments of Ghana and Equatorial Guinea and have agreed to cooperate in energy and agriculture after officials of both countries met in Bata, Equatorial Guinea’s largest city and commercial capital.

A statement issued by the Equatorial Guinea government said President Teodoro Obiang Nguema met with Ghana’s special envoy, Bebaako Mensah.

The Ghanaian delegation also met with the Minister of Mines, Industry and Energy, Marcelino Owono Edu, and others to establish relations between the two countries’ oil and gas sectors, the statement said.

It adds “the Ghanaian government wishes to establish cooperative relations with Equatorial Guinea in the exploitation of oil and gas.”

Both parties also signed a memorandum of agreement on agriculture between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the company Sidalco Ghana Limited.
