68-year old missing man found dead in Half Assini bush

Mr Kaku Appiah, the 68-year old farmer of Half Assini in the Jomoro District, who was reported missing on March 31 this year, has been found dead in a bush, on Wednesday April 4.

The two Asafo Companies, who organised a search party to look for the body, discovered it under a palm tree at Anengyen in a very bad condition.

Safohene (Captain) Ette Akweibo, leader of the one of the companies, made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview at Half Assini, on Thursday.

He said the decomposed body of Mr Appiah was found by the group with his cutlass besides him but one of his pair of Wellington boot was missing.

The Jomoro District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police, John Ferguson Dzineku, in another interview with the GNA, said there was suspicion of foul play in connection with the death, but its decomposed nature made it impossible for post mortem examination to ascertain the facts.

The Police Commander said none of the part of the body was missing and has, therefore, been released to the family for burial.

Superintendent Dzineku said Paul Kweku Yeboah, who was arrested in connection with the missing of Appiah, has been granted police enquiry bail, while police investigation continued.

On March 31, Yeboah went with the late Appiah to cut raffia sticks but Yeboah returned home without Appiah.

Yeboah told the police after his arrest that Mr Appiah took the lead, therefore, he did not see him again until his decomposed body was found by the group.
